Does it make me a bad person that I think that Habitat for Humanity should stop building homes and start buying homes at foreclosure auctions?

No, and it's a good question to ask. I've wondered the same, but I seem to recall some conversations I had with Habitat staff when we donated a bunch of stuff from our house during renovation.
As I understand it, Habitat isn't really setup to buy homes en masse, but is well-positioned to build homes. This is largely from the wide-ranging donations they receive -- everything from doorframes and sinks to kitchen cabinets and appliances.
That makes too much sense to allow a good rant. Damn your reasonableness!
