Life Imitates Art, part N+1

This time, it's this story of a 19-year-old who disabled a carjacker/kidnapper by crashing the car. (The kidnapper/carjacker was not wearing a seatbelt.)

I can't be the only one who immediately thought of Larry Niven's "The Deadlier Weapon", can I? And my wife, when I mentioned the story to her, immediately thought of the season 1 finale of Veronica Mars.

Actually I thought of the post-9/11 debate about arming pilots (go see esr's blog for some disturbing support for a similar idea). I'm not sure how the debate worked out and in this case ignorance is truly bliss. I've asked a few pilots and they all seem pretty cool with the idea of losing X hundred feet in a second would be the better play.

After this past week, the loss of a few dozen feet at random intervals lowered my desires to leave my seat on a plane.

Which part of the past week? The plane crash in NYC? Or your flying around the country?
